I used actual objects on a photocopier inside of plastic bags for a lot of them. Some are image transfer with acrylic medium. Some are on transparency film. The photocopier becomes my black and white camera for close up shots of intimate objects. I do not make copies of the copies, so it is basically a direct photo process. The images are original. There are no negatives. It is immediate gratification without any photo processing or harsh chemicals. Toner cartridges can be refilled, so it really cuts down on the impact on the environment.

Temple lives and works in San Francisco, CA, USA

The substrate is Arches watermedia paper. The collage papers are a mix of appropriated papers torn from magazines like Art in America and Art News, fragments from color copies of other collages, and imported, hand-made papers from India, China and Japan. I used Cranes 100% rag paper for the color copies, and an archival PVA glue.

Spackle is another word for the plaster putty one puts in cracks or nail holes in the wall prior to painting. I was experimenting with the effect of old walls with torn advertisements/announcements still stuck on them--the thin layer of beeswax is to create a sheen.

"The Frida print in the collages is one I drew and carved - the papers are a mix of purchased and my own handpainted ones.
the U.S. is launching a postage stamp honoring Frida Kahlo this month and she was the first subject that came to me."

The OLTGASM derives its name from Arisztid Olt, the short-lived pseudonym used in Hungarian films of 1917 by the actor borm Béla Ferenc Dezso Blasko, later known as Bela Lugosi. A one-of-a-kind, painstakingly hand-crafted piece of art, each OLTGASM is numbered and issued to select individuals by mail. It will alter and enhance any decor, is ideal for framing, simply pinning to a wall or propping on a mantle where it is sure to be an item of conversation and envy at your every soireé, shindig or hoot-nanny. Your heirloom-quality OLTGASM will serve you and generations of your offspring well as a coaster or trivet. Make it into a brooch or use as is for a handy and unique shoebox divider. Use it to surf the net. Simply pop it in the microwave for a marvellous snack the whole family is sure to enjoy.
